Who comes on your yoga holidays?
People come from all backgrounds. A large percentage of guests are women, which reflects the fact that more women than men practise yoga.
Our guests come from many different backgrounds: lawyers, doctors, teachers, mothers, students, business people, retired, in between jobs
etc. The most important is that they are all just really lovely people! Many of our guests travel alone and some guests come with friends or partners.

What level of Yoga experience do I need to have?
Our guests range from total beginners to the experienced practitioner, from the stiff to the super flexible. Yoga is a personal journey and you
will be given adjustments to suit your current level. Our yoga holidays and retreats are a great way to experience yoga for the first time or
for the more experienced it’s an opportunity to deepen their practise.

How many classes are there?
There are between 4/5 hours dayly classes during the week (theory, asana, pranayama and meditation classes). Some of the classes are more
physical and vigourous and some are more recuperative and relaxing.

Do I have to attend all the classes?
No! All the classes are optional. After all, this is a holiday not a boot camp! We are quite happy if you decide to sleep in or spend more
time on the beach in the afternoon. A big part of yoga is listening to your body’s needs and a holiday is also about rest and recharging.pictures

Meditation
Internalise ~ Focus – Concentrate ~ Meditate ~ Realise
After the theories and techniques have been explained and discussed, you will be given the opportunity to apply what you have learned. Sound
principles of practice support and guide the theory which has been learned in the class. This combined approach to learning allows the sincere seeker to internalise and move from the outer world of the rational mind into the consciousness and self-awareness of the inner world. The insights of each subsequent day build on those which have come before.
More:Eyes closed Meditation
A guided meditation to explore the dark corners of the soul. A meditation with music exploring together the beauty of the shadow.

ABOUT HATHA YOGA
Hatha Yoga is a strong practice done for healing and purification. Hatha Yoga is what most people in the Western world associate with the word “Yoga” and is most commonly practiced for mental and physical health. The most comprehensive text of Hatha Yoga is the Hatha Yoga Pradipika by
Yogi Swatmarama. It includes information about shatkarma (purification), asana (postures), pranayama (subtle breath energy), chakras (centers of
energy), kundalini (enlightenment energy), bandhas (energy control), kriyas (purification techniques), nadis (energy channels), and mudras (energy gestures). Traditionally, Shiva is credited with propounding Hatha Yoga. It is said that on a lonely island he gave the knowledge of Hatha Yoga to Goddess Parvati, but a fish heard the entire discourse.
Shiva took mercy on the fish (Matsya) and made him a siddha (Buddha), who came to be known as Matsyendra. Matsyendra taught Hatha Yoga to
Chaurangi and to Goraksha. Goraksha gave it to Swatmarama.Modern schools of Hatha Yoga derive from Krishnamacharya, who taught from 1924 until his death in 1989. Among his students prominent in popularizing Yoga in the West were Pattabhi Jois, famous for the vigorous Ashtanga Yoga; B.K.S. Iyengar, who used props; Indra Devi and Krishnamacharya’s son T.K.V. Desikachar, who developed the Viniyoga style. Another major stream of influence was Swami Sivananda of Rishikesh (1887-1963) and his disciples Swami Vishnu-devananda – founder of International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centres; Swami Satyananda – of the Bihar School of Yoga; and Swami Satchidananda – of Integral Yoga.
